Email Newsletter subscribers should receive their monthly
email newsletter by the 7th of each month. If you don't
receive it by then, then Contact Us
and we'll resend it to
you.
Though the vast majority of you should have no problem
receiving your email newsletter on a timely basis every
month, there are lots of reasons why you might not receive a
newsletter in a given month. Perhaps there was an
electronic glitch at the moment your specific newsletter was
being emailed. Perhaps your ISP is having trouble or is
down for maintenance at the time the newsletter is being
email out, perhaps your email box exceeded its quota.
Regardless of the reason why, the point here is if you don't
receive the monthly email newsletter by the 7th of the month
then email me.
The newsletter is written so that it's ready to go as is.
All you need to do is copy and paste it into your email
program or email newsletter program and email it to your
newsletter list. However, since this is a text based
newsletter you have a lot more flexibility on what you
can do with it. Here are a few options you could choose to
do
- Personalize the newsletter by making your own editor
comments after each article, or creating your own beginning
and end messages that reflects who you are and what your
Shaklee business is all about.
- Edit the copy of each article as you wish making it
longer, shorter. Or edit the number of articles that appear.
Got an article you like better? Add it to the newsletter
yourself! If there's an article you don't like? Cut it
out--it's your newsletter to fashion as you wish.
- Want a more graphically appealing newsletter? Use the
copy for your main content of an HTML-created newsletter
which allows for color and graphics.
- Use the copy for your printed newsletter if you still do
a printed newsletter.
Setting the Correct Links
You'll notice in your email
newsletter that all the links go to the corresponding product
page in the Shaklee.com website. That means the newsletter is
set up to go out to Shaklee members. If you want to send out the
newsletter to a list of non-Shaklee members (i.e. retail
customers and prospects), you need to change the links so that
they go to the corresponding product page on your Shaklee PWS.
To create a new link, highlight the
web address of the page you want to link to. Go to EDIT in the
menu bar and choose COPY. Then go to the place where you want to
paste the link into and make sure your cursor is blinking at the
exact spot you want the link to appear. Go back to EDIT in the
menu bar and this time choose PASTE. Walla! The link appears and
anyone clicking on the link will be sent to the webpage it links
to.
A word about Hyperlinks. A hyperlink
is the link to the webpage where the link has been changed from
the URL of the webpage to something more short and concise like
CLICK HERE. My feelings on hyperlinks especially in an email
newsletter is that unless the URL is quite long its better to
use the URL address as the link. Sometimes clicking on a link
doesn't work and if that happens then at least the person has
the URL address that they can copy and the paster into the
address bar of the web browser to go the page.
Marketing Your Newsletter
There are several ways you can
increase exposure of your email newsletter. Here are just
three...
- For starters you can send a
complimentary copy to anyone you have an email conversation
with about Shaklee. If doing this make sure to invite them
to subscribe to your newsletter by replying back to you in
an email.
- You can copy and paste of
version of the email newsletter into your What's New Page on
your Shaklee PWS. You can change out the newsletter monthly
or create a Best of newsletter to highlight on your Shaklee
PWS page.
- You can advertise your free
newsletter by copying it into a simple autoresponder and setting
up an email address(ex newsletter@yourdomain)
Then create a link to it and put it in your email signature.
Then anyone you email who would be interested in looking at the
newsletter simply clicks on your link and gets a copy
automatically. sent to them. Using a good autoresponder program
that sends you the email address of the person who got the
newsletter you would also then automatically subscribe the
person to your newsletter list for future emailings. Now every
email correspondence can be an opportunity for a new newsletter
subscriber. See lessons three and four for more information on
autoresponders and email newsletters.
Finally, the newsletter is best sent
on a Tuesday, or right around payday (the 15th and end/beginning
of the month). Studies show people are more likely to open and
read a newsletter on Tuesday and they have money to spend around
payday so keep that in mind when emailing your newsletter.
I'll do my best to keep the
newsletter content, fresh, interesting, relevant and timely. If
you come across something that you think would be good to see in
the newsletter feel free to pass it on by going to Contact Us.
Thank you again for subscribing to
my newsletter and best to you in your Shaklee business!
